First PROPER build :) (i7 950)

Nice Build. Thanks for the pix. Im planning on building a very similar pc.

Good to see the Megahalems fits nicely with the patriot memory. I was thinking of getting that or Noctua NH-U12P since it comes with fans.

I also have the same of plan of going Sli in a few months, but I have read that the P6X PCIex16 slots are very close together which may cos problems.

Il have to start a build thread and get some experts to advise me on a few things.

Meh they wont cause problems, im unsure why people complain, but they are close together so they have more heat, im using the ATCS 840 (coolermaster).

And i currently have the CPU @ 4.2GHz stable!

:O v.nice.

Im still going to get the P6X but Id like to get a report of someone using sli on the board with the two x16 ports

With your Megahalems do you think you could fit in another 6GB of ram in the future?

I know it would hurt your overclock but hypothetically.

Why on earth have you ordered a 1250w psu????

Exactly!

No such thing as "future proofing"

Water cool, go SLI put in 10 HDD... you still won't need anything like a 1250w PSU. I take it the word "efficiency" means nothing to you? :D

Well lucky enough the PSU is making a whinning and clicking noise, so hopefully il return it and get my cash back!

p.s. Stay away from Enermax 1250W it makes a stupid clicking and whinning noise! Do not recommend this PSU!

Looks good - Im debating whether to go to an i7 950 from my Q6600 now or wait to the new year and see whats available then

Imps

Well i plan on getting an Antec 300, and then silencing the F out of it, i really hate noise, and this ATCS 840 isnt doing it justice with two massive fans, that hum the side panel when both are switched on, and where its too big, their is no airflow, well its just way to big, also i need to sell this god damn Q6600 G0, 790i *** PWM, and 4GB DDR3.
