I have had a few interviews before but they have either been for work placements or deliveries and call centre type jobs.

I've got an interview on wednesday for an IT support job. Are there any tips you can give me before I go, other than arriving a bit early, smart etc

I have looked at the website of the company and the job spec states that knowledge of Citrix, SQL Server and Blackberry Enterprise Server would be ideal. I have never used these before (SQL server only a bit) but will look into them.

Thanks all

Just have a look at your cv and make sure everything you have put on your cv your update on. If its first line job they will ask you basic troubleshooting questions. This will normally be in the applications they support or sell.

The worst thing you can do is put something on your CV that you dont know anything about. I've seen this a few times before and when the interviewer asks simple questions they normally get found out.

Hope it goes well for ya.

Thanks. Yeh, i never put things on my CV that i cant do. Sure i spruce them up a bit like everyone, but theres no point in putting that I am an in depth user of SQL Server then not having a clue when asked a question.

Arrive on time rather than being early.

Used to be really annoying when I was interviewing someone and they turned up 15 minutes early!

I just got another rejection this morning. I wish someone would give me an interview. :/

Good luck though. Huddy's guide is in the archives somewhere - a very good read.

Simple tips though: Be early, be presentable, prepare beforehand, be polite, and relax.

Well, people can always turn up like 30 minutes early then wander around the area until their interview.

Thanks everyone and especially Huddy for the interview thread. The very first question i was asked was "how much money are you looking for" my reply 'ill consider anything reasonable for someone with my experience at graduate level"

I thought it went quite well, messed up once as i had asked questions during the interview and ran out when asked at the end. I managed to think of one just in time though. Was bit nervous at first but he made me relaxed as I wasnt having questions fired at me one after another. Sounds like a great company to work for.

fingers crossed
