First Road Bike advice

yep, I did indeed.

Tried pretty much every adjustment possible.

To my (trained, believe it or not) eye, it looks perfectly setup, I really can't see any reason for the noise.

One day i'll try and get to the decathalon store in Croydon, maybe they'll be able to help (but it means I have to go into Croydon... shudder).

Here is a couple of videos:

That actually sounds pretty normal to me. It'll always be louder on the stand as the wheel is always going faster than you're pedalling, so it's engaging the freewheel. And there's nothing to absorb the vibrations, they just transmit all the way through the frame. I'd just check that everything's indexed well and that there's no rubbing, and also that the derailleur alignment with the chain is okay. Also that the chain is actually routed through the rear mech properly, wouldn't be surprised if an inexperienced shop clerk had made that mistake. But other than that just lube everything and ride, basically.

Hmm that's interesting.

I'll be honest, the only bikes I've used in the past 10 years is a bmx that sounds aweful due to the bearings being destroyed, and a MTB which feels much quieter to me.

The indexing, shifting etc. is spot on, so i'll just crack on and get riding! :)

Well thanks for the advice,

Bought a Cannondale CAAD8 today, beautiful!

Also tried a Defy and Scott and they felt as if I was slightly more upright and perhaps a smidgen more comfy in a way, but I preferred the feel and ride of the Cannondale, slightly more aggressive and dynamic if that makes sense!
