Yeesh, just unlucky today, first I get a trainee at the hairdressers, then this...

Was driving home today down a country road, doing about 60, all of a sudden a pheasant literally lands infront of me, about 5 metres infront, I didn't even have time to think, brake or anything, just a loud THUMP, looked back and saw feathers flying! :(

Sadly there was nowhere on that road safe to park up and see how it was, pretty risky road to stop on due to its layout, anyways, I drove home, kinda shook up, got out, ran to the front of the car to check the damage...oh my god, pheasant, sticking out of lower grill, head and neck buried in the front of the car, I must have driven about 2 miles back with a damn unusual front ornament! :(

After taking him/her out, and giving it a sendoff, buried in the field, I took a look at the car, front grill is a bit bent/mashed from the force of the bird, but i'm worried about Radiator/AC system :( Luckily got my gf's Corsa in tomorrow for a pre-sale checkup at the garage down the road, so have booked this in after to get the rad full checked as I'm driving about 900 miles next week and have next to sod all mechanical knowlege!

Here's the result :( hows it look? aside from feathery?

(pics to come, photobucket it being crap and I upped them on there and deleted them from the camera)

Unlucky.

Although not quite as unlucky as the guy below, who, when his car began to overheat, pulled over and found this lodged in the front.

It's a fox, by the way.

:p

hehe yeah, already had dup send me that on MSN! :)

I'm just praying there's no rad/ac damage, really can't afford that right now :(

C'mon photbucket, up your game!!

lol :)

i suppose cos i live in the country i'm used to seeing dead rabbits, pheasants, chickens and other wildlife on the road, usually being picked at by crows.

Pheasants are the dumbest animals in the world, they see you coming and just stand there, theres really no point breaking or swerving cos whichever way you swerve, is the way they'll run. Just hit them.

hehe probably true, just my first animal incident, so at the time I felt pretty shook up by it, not been so shook up driving since the time I drove into the back of a Brava :D (Wish that bird had been dragged 2 miles atached to my car, I tell ya!)

Reminds me when I was on the phone one day and my dad came in, I could see something on his car through the frosted glass and opened the door, and there was a pigeon stuck in the front grill of his van, I said dad you got a bird there and he muttered something about there being a few pigeons in his way and thought there wasnt as many in his mirror once he had drove past.

Definitely agree about the pheasants... easily the most stupidest of animals on the face of the earth.

hmm
I have had three roadkills
1x bird run over by the car
1x bird hit my windscreen at 0.6 leptons
1x bird hit my windscreen and smeared all over the roof at 1.1-1.2 leptons  on christmas day :D

Something big eh? I was expecting to see a horses arse protruding through your windscreen!

Still, a Pheasant isn't small and they can cause an awful lot of damage.

I almost became a victim of a Ninjor Badger last thursday, but luckily it ninja'd out the way. I keep thinking what would've happened if I hit it and injured it. What would I do about it? They're EVIL creatures. I reckon it would've torn off my legs and beaten me to death with them. Anyway, it didn't happen that time. Phew.
