First self build PC - HELP

could be that the 2x 4 pin might have a loose wire? should I try a 2+6 pin? Because the motherboard is connected with a big 24 pin I think it is and a 8 pin close to the cpu.

Edit: When I got it the power connector near the cpu had a plastic lid over 4 of the 8 holes. Could that make a differens? Btw the 2+6 doesnt fit.

You wont fit a 6+2pin pci-e into that 8pin socket on the motherboard.

Did you clear the CMOS in the end?

If not, remove the power at the wall socket, and pop out the battery for a minute, re-fit and power back-up.

microATX Motherboard - odd choice given the case!

You say the HDD LED DOES FLASH! I think this suggests a successful POST (anyone?).

Make sure you've returned the CMOS jumper to the normal position (otherwise it won't start, I speak from embarrasing experience).

This is much easier with a speaker connected. Do you have an old PC you could extract one from?

For your CPU connector, are you saying you've removed the cap and fitted an 8 pin connector, or left the cap and fitted a 4 pin connector? Either should post.

Remove the plastic lid and fit both halves of the 8 pin (ie 2 x 4pin which latch together) into the socket. It only goes in one way.

CMOS jumper is back in the 1-2. And I have run it with the 8 pin in all the time.

I did look in one of my old pcs for a mobo speaker. And it was built in.

About the Motherboard, it is my first one and my friend said it was a good choice, he works with hardware a lot.

But do you guys think that its a faulty motherboard? because then i have to contact overclockers as fast as possible i think. Maybe I could trade it in for different one for the same price?

It is starting to sound like a faulty motherboard of CPU.

Personally I'd build the whole thing out of the case with just one stick of RAM and use a screwdriver to short out the power button to turn it on.

Just built it mobo, CPU and HSF, and a stick of RAM and graphics I guess if you dont have onboard graphics.

Why does the mobo have VGA and HDMI plugins? and what is HSF?

A HSF is the heatsink and fan on top of the CPU.

The board has those outputs as the i3 530/540 etc and i5 6 series chips have a built in graphics core that you can use with that board, your i5 760 doesnt have this feature.

He means the graphic card connectors that you asked about earlier, the 6+2pin.

But they wont fit the socket, unless you forced it in?

I think your power supply there two 4pin connectors that go together to make a 8 pin and power the CPU. not a 6 pin and a 2 pin or a 6 pin or an 8 pin. just a thought as I have come across that before.

so check that you have two 4pin connectors together in that slot rather then a 6 and a two or an 8
