First service prices

I'm in a similar situation with being working from home, will only be doing 3-5k miles a year and was wondering would it be best to switch to long life service so it's 20k miles/2 years for each service?

From my understanding you normally switch to long life servicing when you use the car more frequently, not the other way around.

I.e. If you're doing 20k miles a year, it's normally unnecessary to stick with regular 10k service intervals as you won't degrade the filters etc any quicker.

I use Seat for my 7 year old leon servicing, they are a little more than an indy but include breakdown cover (see the 'Extending cover' bit) if you book online which more than makes up for it - used it a few times for flats as 100$% of the time the tyre foam thing doesn't work!

Had a look on the SEAT website just now and they have a All-in service plan for £791.76 with the minor and major service at (£508) so that's £283 for 2 MOTs, 2 years roadside assistance and 2 years warranty, does that look reasonable?

Not sure if a 3 year old car needs extended warranty but I have the DQ200 DSG gearbox which from looking online seems to be a high number of failures so having the warranty might be a good idea.

Came here to say this. Long life servicing is the opposite of what you want if you are hardly using it.

Seems OK to be fair but I hate the fact that they are using a quote of £226 a year for "roadside assistance" to inflate the saving. Full cover with AA is half that before you even consider any sign up bonuses. MOT price is also maximum they are allowed to charge, or about £20 more per year than most garages I come across seem to charge.

Ultimately a large part of the decision will be how good your dealer is. I now take mine to the dealer an hour away because my local is absolutely useless. I'm convinced they have a grand total of 1 courtesy car and they seem to think that midway between min and max is an acceptable post service oil level for the next 20 odd thousand miles.

Yeah I agree, full AA cover is around £60-80 a year when there's an offer on plus cashback and just calculated the costs, 2 services is £508, 2 MOTs is £109 so that's £174 for 2 years warranty and roadside assistance whereas one year all components/no excess by itself is £173.

I have a SEAT (Arnold Clark) in town 5 miles away and another one that is SEAT 12 miles away but heard bad things about Arnold Clark.
