Hi all, these are my first shots using my 400D, took quite a few photos today and I reckon these are my best so far. Please feel free to tell me what you think.

The first shots of the car are not great because the fence gets in the way and and makes it a messy shot. You will need a faster shutter speed for the cars also. Is your 400D set to manual or auto ?

Not sure what your trying to do with the people in the street but looks like you got you shutter open to long  unless that's the shot you want to produce. Just keep practicing mate ;)

All using manual mate, by a faster shutter speed. Do you mean the aperture?

Your F-stop is your aperture and your camera's shutter is the tool that you use to control the amount of time that you let light reach your film.

Have a read of this http://www.morguefile.com/archive/classroom.php was really helpfully to me. see lesson 2 about aperture and shutter speed. :D

I love that !!!!

Don't surpose u have it in a higher res.... wood look sexy as a back ground

wicked thanks for the comments :-D Yup will up load high rez versions. Any idea why some of the sky is really dark? Any tips on how I can impove them?

Not a fan on the first bunch, too much going on eyes don't really know where to look.

The motorway bunch are great, reminds me I need to get a tripod.

the first lot look like they were taken with a camera phone(sorry if its coming across as rude).

i like the night time shots though.....november the 5th is coming up soon so using the same technique you can get some nice firework shots.

Cheers people, I like to hear all of your views so far. They where my first SLR shots, so ian quite happy them. I didn use a tripod for the night shots, borrow my dads which is too short. Any pointers on how I could impove the shots?

Seriously mate.

Start a new thread, because I nearly couldn't be bothered to look past the first photos.

Secondly, at least orientate the photos correctly.

Sorry to be blunt, but if you are posting for C &C, give yourself the best opportunity.

Yeah sorry man, intention was to see if there was an improvement from the first lot.

Yer no excuses, I should have organized them better.

Anyone got any views on them?

The last five pictures are fairly under exposed, but it can be hard to expose for the entire scene when facing the sun. Whilst the new photo's could do with horizon alignment, and some post processing, they are definitely technically better - better focusing, better settings, better composition.

Download the Adobe Lightroom demo, and work some magic!

:)

Thanks, on each shot i checked the exposure on the camera before I took the shot I was only playing with the aperture setting and tv setting setting to try to get the exposure bar in the middle on the scale on the camera. Do you know why the sun has changed shape, and doesnt look very much like a circle?

post processing?

Whats lightroom? Can you not use photoshop instead?
