First shots with my first SLR (Noob shots)

Hi all, just recently got my Nikon D60 with 18-55 Nikkor VR Lense and am enjoying it a lot

It's my first time with a D-SLR so please go easy on me with your comments

Take better pictures than compacts don't they, the first DSLR is the biggest jump you'll make.

Oh yes! I'm still amazed at just how far you can zoom into the macro shots you take!

I bought a new Nikon D60 with the Nikk0r 18-55mm lense for around 320 with 30£ cashback from Nikon, so cost me 290.

They don't look bad but have a read up about the "rule of thirds" as it will help your composition.

what are those to parallel lines at the top of the first picture? too high for power cables, too dark for jet engine trails? :confused:

Edit : Pic 6 is my favourite

Nah i think they are power cables. its just the way the shot is makes them look to high.

Im a total n00b too but have a fettle in PS, it will improve em. 6 is best of the lot i think.
