I will hopefully be installing my OCZ vertex 2 tomorrow

,can i update the firmware from a USB-stick, WHEN and HOW should i enable ACHI before or after the OS is installed.

Before and through the BIOS - should be under 'host controller mode' or something along those lines. Depends on the motherboard.

I'm not sure about the OCZ Vertex 2 firmware. I would have thought it would come with the latest version? I would imagine as long as you make the USB drive bootable it would be fine.

cheers,i forgot to say i've got the upgrade version of WIN 7 from Vista,I've read that the ACHI driver will automatically load in vista and Win 7 but still
gives the option to( load driver) which i did but then tells me can't find driver,
now ive reinstalled vista without using this option,seems OK installed Vista in 10 mins.

Does it matter what sata port I'm using?

Do i have to install the vista updates before installing Win 7?

No. It's best to do a fresh install of W7 as some Vista drivers does'nt work on W7 unless you run it in compatibility mode.

thanks for your help. well got everything working and WOW these are quick,

210mbps average using HD-tune, i was getting 90-100 on my F3.
