First SSD

I am ordering my 1st SSD today. From my research the Samsung 840 is a good SSD for the price 120gb. Is there anything i should know before ordering my knowledge of pc's is limited i have a Thermaltake M5A case and a corsair cx500 power supply if that helps.

pro or basic? yes they are good drives

the size of the drive is important too as the larger the drive the quicker the speeds and lower the latency

120gb only comes in basic

does the drive come with a 2.5" to 3.5" adaptor? you may need one to fit the drive into one of your 3.5" bays

there's £15 rebate on the 250gb atm but the 120gb is fine imo

you can use some elastic bands or Velcro to mount them if you don't wanna buy an adaptor,they are very light

Has considerably higher write speed

Didn't know i needed an adaptor i think i will get the kit then thanks.

you don't really need one,you can stand it up inside the case or stick it down if you wanted to save some money,it's upto you really

true,some cases let you mount them in the removable drive trays ect,so I would check your case

my fractal arc midi does so no tray needed for me

I still don't see that the higher write speed is a major advantage (or even fairly minor advantage) for most users.
