I got 3 Patriot 32Gb hdd's from OCUK yesterday that were on offer, spent all night trying to get it working and I'm not happy. 1 drive works ok, installed Win7 on it and was getting avg read of 193mb/s, the second drive is recognised as RAW and cannot be used, formatted or deleted, if I try to install to it setup cannot create a partition, the 3rd drive gives me hieroglyphics in the bios and locks the PC up.

First off I now need to travel back to stock to swap them out, secondly I wanted 3 for raid 0 and I'm doubting reliability.

anyone else having issues with them?

its the through put I'm interested in, 1 x 32gb or 1 250gb both have the same read write speeds, I've tested other SSD's in raid 0 and got over 500mb/s out of 3

I have seen it mentioned in a few threads on here and also in reviews of the larger SSD's that are effectily 2 smaller ones raided together.

i saw the offer and was tempted to get 2 for raid but decided to hold out and save a tad more for either a corsair reactor / kingston SSD v+

there are due to be some firmware releases soon that have garbage collection built into the drive so it doesnt rely on the OS for TRIM, or at least thats what I've been told

I am waiting to see how much the Crucial Real SSD C300 comes in at as they look really quick.

(sorry..slighly off topic) Am i right in thinking that if i get an SSD with a read speed of say 350 MB/s... and even if this rate is sustained in all conditions, i will only get a maximum of 300 MB/s because of the internal SATA data transfer limitation? (sorry if i'm sounding like right idiot :P )

Have you tried a different SATA cable for the drive that is giving you lock ups? One of my Crucials did the same thing but I just changed the cable and it worked fine. Might be worth trying before you return it?

No I didnt read it, but then again there are a lot of positive reviews as well. I've got 2 replacements now and just finished installing 7 in a RAID0 across all drives and its getting a max of jsut over 500Mb/s read and a max of 160Mb/s write. Not too sure whats happening with the write as its not scaling correctly, could be a firmware update.
