first thing to do after you got the pc working

hi,

not that i've got my system running yet (i can't seem to post).

What is the first things your guys do after you installed Windows Vista (which is what i am going to install) on a working system?

Install an anti-virus and firewall before connecting to the internet.

Download on another pc and save to cd or usb pen.

Once this is done, setup internet (a case of plugging in the cable for me) then download programs I need / want and setup windows desktop how I want it.

oh oops, forgot after firewall install windows updates aswell

install the chipset drivers - onboard sound drivers etc

Install chipset, onboard ethernet, sound and graphics drivers.

Turn off UAC .

do not turn off UAC unless you agree to take the risk of not actualy knowing what is installing itself on your computer

much more adviseable is install kaspersky and then disable UAC
