Hey all long time lurker first time poster here! I just wanted to see if you lads & ladies would help me - never built a pc before so be gentle. I have around £1500 to spend and wanted to run this rig past you.

So this what I have so far, if anyone has any recommendations then please let me know - if you want to post a complete different rig around the £1500 mark then please do (will be a massive help to me)

This is what I have come up with myself:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1100T Black Edition 3.30GHz
MOTHERBOARD: Asus Crosshair IV Formula AMD 890FX
RAM: Corsair XMS3 16GB (2x8GB)
HD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA
SSD OCZ Vertex 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive
GFX: ATI Radeon HD 6990 4096MB GDDR5

If anyone is from Manchester and wants to earn a few extra £ then please let me know, I want someone to guide me building my rig :)

Thanks for your time.

i5 2500k vs 1100T - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=203

Did you need an operating system/monitor etc?

Stulid's build is real nice...although i would swap out the GFX for a 6950 (flash to 6970) as i'm not sure if ANYTHING could ever need the power a 6990 has.

What about needing a monitor etc?

Got a 120hmz already mate. Is sandybridge just a make like Asus?

Configure your trust.
I'll send you a PM, for Manchester local help there's somewhere you can go, if you need the help.

Thanks mate that would be great. I saw video on how it all goes together but I would like someone to just advise me :)

Well I have this, upgraded a few things because I already have a OS system ready to install - what do you think?

I'm still learning about overclocking but is this CPU good for it? Also I want this rig to last me a few good years, I know the graphics power will handle any game that hits within the next 5 years. If I wanted to crossfire x2 6990 in a couple of years would I need to replace my PSU?

Great! Is it best to go with Nvidia & Intel?

well the GTX590 seems to be blowing up a lot, and not any faster than a 6990 for £100 more.

Nice board, ASrock are now owned by ASUS, so hopefully non of the family traits are present in that board, it also seems to be £50 more than the ASUS/Gigabyte for some extra pointless bling.

Nvidia fanboy can never be wrong :p

all fanboi's are blinded by there teams babble...best to buy whatever is affordable and or powerfull regardless of who makes it :)..or at the very least something that isnt a fire risk ;)

mx-4 is the paste you want...i dont think they make mx-5 yet unless stulid knows something i dont...
