First Time Cat Owner Q's

this......but almost certainly they will end up crapping in someone elses garden. i have one that seems to like doing it round the kids climbing frame......i'm just biding my time and waiting for the right opportunity...

Nothing a good motion sensor water sprayer or some tiger pee on the edges of the garden can't fix.

Agreed though. Cat owners, can't control a cat outside, and they will roam regardless.

The cats seem to love chilling on the windowsill in my office so I've decided to build them a little perch outside.

It's a second floor window but above the porch roof thingy so falling isn't an issue. They're only there when I'm in the room anyway.

This is just a quick piece of wood I put there for now as a mk1 prototype (lol) but I'm planning to reinforce and add some edges as well as some fixed plant pots and a removable mini snack bowl :)

So far so good...

...and they're finally using their cat bed

As far as a catio is concerned... they seem to be fine roaming around my garden as is, no real place for them to escape for now but will see as they get bigger.

It think they're happy here :)

Yo bro.
Good to read that everything is going well, and nice one for sorting out the snippysnips.
As for the perch, unless it's enclosed they will jump, they will find a way to explore.

1. Don't let it crap in the neighbors garden.

How exactly that going to work?
"Oi, your cat is crapping in my garden!"

"Sorry, I'll have a word with him about it."

C'mon dude, cats are not dogs.
Domesticated cats are classed as "semi-feral" and are treated as such.

Thanks :)

Yeh I'm keeping an eye on them but they've been chilling on the outside sill for weeks now without jumping, although both have fallen once each (like 2ft down onto the porch roof), and since then they haven't even looked interested in jumping down.

But will keep my eye on them and add a cage if needed :)

So I upgraded the perch a little, put a little border on it so they don't slip off and reinforced the bolts as well as upgraded to heavier duty brackets (need to tidy up the bolts and stuff but that's a two man job so waiting for my dad to visit).

The exterior paint finish is much nicer than what I did on the inside haha, I rushed it a little towards the end.

But from the outside it doesn't look too much of an eyesore... I want to sort out some hanging plants or something cosmetically to help it fit in a little better, although this is a pit-stop/temporary house so might not bother too much.

And then here they are currently, sleeping as usual. They're getting big!
