hi
i learnt how to drive in a diesel and now im getting insured on my mums car which is a petrol. would it drive different to the diesel and has anyone got any tips?

Drive it and find out. Probably going to have less torque and not creep as well, but really, just drive it and work it out. Your license entitles you to drive either :p

You'll be able to hear the stereo better as it will be quieter and you wont smell :-)

Seriously though, as other poster have said, petrol's are easier to stall so just give it a few more revs when setting off.

First thing i noticed was the vast difference in Clutch Control... in the diesel you were probably used to the whole car hunkering down on the bite, Petrols don't do that.

You'll have it in no time though, just remember which pump you need to use when filling it up ;)

drive it like you stole it and it will perform, you don't need to do that in a derv

Fixed :p

Seriously though, as the guys said you'll soon get used to it. I learnt in a diesel, passed in a diesel and have driven 99% diesel since. I'm the first to admit the odd crafty stall when moving back to a petrol temporarily (hire car, friend's car on DOC etc), it's what happens when you use an inferior form of transport :D ;)

EDIT: Oh, and LOL @ launch :)

When you fill it up you wont end up with fuel all over your hands. Seriously, if i have to use a diesel pump, there always manages to be some on the handle of the pump...

I just thought launch was funny. You say it like he's racing it at Santa Pod.

Every red traffic light IS like waiting at the Christmas tree at Santa Pod :-)

That's because lesbians fuel evaporates, where as alpha fuel doesn't.

You cannot full off on the clutch in a petrol as it will cause it to stall. Give it some revs (a bit not loads) the second before you let the clutch bite.

Make sure you use the green pump when you fill it up:p

There really is not much difference between them in terms of being able to drive them. The power delivery is different in a petrol though.
