Self explanatory really....

Five weeks on saturday i fly for the first time, newcastle to barcelona(ish) i forget the exact airport, gettin pretty nervous about it as im not too hot on enclosed spaces and heights....

anyway, any tips? I'm looking forward to the holiday in general, just not how im getting there.

cheers folks, go easy on me everybody seems to take much amusement from my 'fear' of flying...

You'sa people gonna die ;)

...just kidding.. It's nothing really mate, honest.

I'd take chewing gum for the takeoff/landings (so your ears don't pop) and just chill

flew out to portugal a few weeks back, none of the family had flown before. take some boiled sweets, and treat it as a overgrown coach trip. nothing to worry about.

I've never actually flew in a passenger plane. But, from what I've been told, prepare to be packed in tighter than sardines in a tin.:(

Id imagine chewing gum sucks for the munchies. And of course hes gonna 'chill'. He'll be 'flyin'

*wink wink nudge nudge* kno' wha' I mean govne'

Riker Fact:

Riker has flown over 14,021 flights, and is most comfortable flying at warp 9.5

my plan of action had been to sink a few brown ales or whatever at the airport, get on plane, panic, fart like a trooper then fall asleep.... im hoping this is how it will go

If you consult your Riketionary.I think you'll find its 14'030.

1) Remember, pilots are very good. Unless we are drunk.

2) Any knocks, odd noises and shimmies are part of normal flight. There will probably be a lot of noise on landing, it's normal. There may even be some tire-screeching, they do it to turn early. Saves time.

3) Flight attendants are (mostly) 100+ years old and have replaced all muscle in their face with god-knows-what. Don't expect any emotion as they are no longer capable.

4) Get the pilot to avoid Scuzi's patch. :D

Don't do what I did before I first flew when I was 14, and watch 'Why Planes Go Down' on Sky One..

... Just because Gillian Anderson was in it :/

Yup, a smoother version of a coach trip just about sums it up. If you want to be cautious, get a seat at the back - planes rarely reverse into things!

Important Tip:
If you get nervous DONT nip outside for a ciggie ;)

wear a blindfold and ask them to secure you to the wing.

fresh air, open space and you wont see how high you are! :p
