First Time Having Multiple Hard Drives

Hi All,

So I finally decided to add an SSD (Kingston Hyper-X 120GB) to my system. I've built several PC's over the last few years but this is the first time i've had more than one storage device.

My aim is to have Windows plus Office and 1 or 2 minor programmes on my SSD and then my games/music/videos etc on my current HD where they are all already.

I'm totally fine unplugging my 1TB HD, adding the SSD and getting it installed with Windows, changing the boot priority in the BIOS to the SSD etc. My queries relate to once it is all up and running.

1) Will I be able to remove Windows from my current HD once installed on to my SSD and, if so, how do I get that done?

2) This is probably an extremely basic question, but i'm not really sure how things will work once I boot up onto my SSD. At the moment all my short cuts are on my desktop and other things in my Start menu, e.g. Steam. Is it still possible to get that set up when using separate drives? I'm sure it must be, just a little unsure of the logistics with this being my first time.

Finally, is there anything obvious that I may be missing/not thinking of and need to be aware of having never run with a second drive?

Thanks ever so much in advance for any assistance :)

you wont be able to move windows onto the ssd if its larger than the drive (the data wont fit so a clean install of windows is needed)if it will fit then you can clone it across to the new ssd

then you can decide what to keep/delete/backup off your old hdd and use that for storage

and yes you can pick and choose what programs to install on which drive during each program/games install process
