I've never built a desktop PC before but i want to try now and maybe save a little money in doing so. The main thing with this PC is being able to play Rome Total War 2 at high end. but there's no spec for it yet as its not out till the end of the year.

Here's what i think will be good enough:

i5 quad core 3570k £170
GAINWARD GeForce GTX 560 Ti Phantom 2 GB GDDR5£63
Aerocool GT-S Series 500w '80Plus Bronze' £60
Corsair Vengeance 16 GB : 2 x 8 GB £50
gaming case £30
3tb hard drive Seagate Barracuda £90
SAMSUNG SH-224B dvd-rw+ £15
what motherboard would be best? ???
total:£478+

so would that be ok to play rome total war 2 high end?
is it all compatible?

any questions please ask cheers simon

Considering the Recommended Specs (Recommended for optimum game play) of Total War: Shogun is 2nd Generation Intel Core i5 processor.

Stratagy games can be very CPU intensive when the unit count gets high.

You expect Rome Total War 2 to be at least that at max settings.
The 3570k would be the safe option.

A 560ti for £63 is a very good deal. Even more handy that it's a 2GB version.
Also, you don't really need 16GB of RAM, 8GB will be fine.
The i5 would be a good option, as I expect it will be quite CPU intensive.
A 3TB hard drive may be a bit too much, but then again I don't know what else it will be used for? For the PSU, look for a XFX/Corsair/Silverstone/other popular good brand.
As for the motherboard, the Gigabyte Z77-D3H is currently one of the best around the £90 price mark.
