Hey all,

Just a quickk question really, just wondered is it 'fairly' easy to actually build a computer?

Do you just get all the components and plug em all in (lol this sounds naive) and then switch it on? Or is there more to it?

You can tell how uneducated I am on PC building :D lol, we all start somewhere i guess ;)

yes, its pretty much like lego. everything slots together and then you switch it on and load the software.

(thats the basics of it)

there are some good guides about and lots of help on here if you need it.

Ty for your quick reply Paulus :D

Basically, Im buying the components individually, so if you like, they'll all be installed together at the one time

So when I have all my individual components laid out on the table, do I literally get the Case, put the PSU and MOBO in, put the hdd in and connect it, slot in the CPU/and cooler, RAM, GFX card... ect..

then I just push the power button, and load on the OS?

It seems very straight forward, too easy... if u ask me lol. I guess if there is a problem then you have to go faffing around in the BIOS and stuff?

yup. thats how it goes. if it all goes right..

here is quite a good guide.

best advice is

take your time
read the manuals
work with some good space and good light
take your time
look on the internet at guides at each part that your working on
take your time
remember to discharge static from your body by touching the side of the case regularly and dont work on the carpet, and handle each item by the edges
did i mention, to take your time ?

yep very easy and people on here are always more than happy to help you out.

a few tips for a first timer as i know i always make silly mistakes lol.

1. make sure all the power connectors are plugged in
2. when installing the motherboard make sure that only the plugs for the screws that you are actualy using are screwed in,
3. make the wiring as neat as possible incase you have to take something out at a later date :)
