Hi,

I am building a new computer in a couple of days and it's the first time I'll have an SSD.
I know I should set it to AHCI in the bios, but is there anything else I should do before or after installing Windows 7 to get the best performance out of it?

SSD is the Samsung 256gb 830.
I know there's probably 30 threads on this but I've spent a lot and would like my own answers!

Thanks for the help.

nothing really, just run windows experience index to enable trim and thats it,i find the less you mess the better,oh you could download install the latest intel rapid storage drivers, that will increase speed slightly if your using an intel board and flash the motherboard to the latest bios

The one thing I'd also do is set Over-Provisioning to at least 10% (use the SSD Magician, it only takes a few clicks). This should help with wear-levelling and write amplification.
