Needless to say I shal be using this lens more now! Ive seen results from other body's, but I am more than impressed with this from my Entry level DSLR! Just a shame that the ones of the red arrows arent so impressive due to the dirty clouds :(

Aye well after all the people suggesting I get one im really glad I did!

For the most basic of Canon's current range of DSLR's I think its damn good!

In well lit condition shooting in low ISO, probably all DSLR on the market can achieve great results. The quality of the sensor don't become apparent until the camera meets low light condition mixed with high ISO. The lens you use has much more impact on the overall sharpness and colour saturation than your body itself.

In outdoor scenes the fifty is always a joy to use. Colour rendition is awesome, as is the speed and sheer lightness of the thing. I love mine, especially the clackety clackety focus :D

Get one :P its nice!

bought mine a few months back .. just a pain ive had a knee op and not been able to venture and use it as intended but taken a few shots of my now 10month old niece.

Got one of these, find it really sharpens up at f2.2 / 2.5, got some really great portraits at those apatures. Unfortunately not so hot at f/1.8! Not sure if it's just my copy though

Great shot :)
I've never use a prime lens, the idea of walking backwards and forwards to compose the shot, seems soooo last Century :D

This is very true but there is some fundamentlly important differences between changing positioning and changing focal length.

Althought the subject magnification (size in frame) may be equalised, almost ever other parameter of a photograph will be different if you move with your feet.
