First upgrade in a while - pretty out of touch!

Okay seem to be all up and running, happy days.

Finally thing in CPU-Z it says my DRAM frequency is only 2400mhz. Is there a setting in BIOS I need to activate to get my RAM at full speed? I seem to remember back with my old Intel board I needed to do something similar but first time on an AMD board so not sure what to look for?

EXPO, but I'd recommend you use the PC for around a week before you enable it (just to establish that it is stable in your normal usage, so if you start getting BSODs or lockups, you'll know that it is probably your memory overclock).

i like to buy random GPU's to play with and right now i have a 4070 Super Aorus and i have to say in ever bench it beats the 6950XT i had 2 week ago to death
it a stunning GPU's and games in the high 40's with an OC

the AMD 7900 is a good GPU but just doesn't run as cool and quiet, it also important to note the 6950xt beats the 7900 GRE in most games

you could buy an 7900XT but thats costs more then a 4070S in that cast a 4070TI would be better at the same cost
if your going to buy AMD it as to be the XTX,

3. GPU - agree no need to spend extra on the TUF version of the 4700 Super. So I've gone for the basic ASUS model the Dual EVO.
the differance is the TUF would have run silent at all times, but the dual is just as good of a GPU

really? i put it on day one, if it doesn't run with EXPO on you need to RMA some stuff??

Each to their own, I guess, but I like to simplify things and since RAM is like... #1 cause of problems with a new PC, it helps you to know immediately which part is the problem, if you already ran fine for a week when XMP/EXPO were turned off.

Catching up on thread.. well done for getting everything working...have to say, I'm in the enable expo straight away camp. Wouldn't have the patience going the other way. If you're concerned you could always do a memtest... also, hopefully board should tell you if you have a memory problem with the post it code display, though guess that might be just on boot up. Do see logic of other route, but think if memory cant run at stated speed youd know about it fairly quickly, then yeah, I'd probably return it

And here's me thinking this whole section of the forum is just for daydreaming, not actually planning purchases!
Haha a rare follow through?

Regarding the EXPO I will try it now this evening after work. I have now extensively run the PC over Sunday and Monday stretching its legs with some overly demanding/fancy Minecraft shaders and Portal RTX. Seems to be running flawlessly which is always a great relief, even more so as it was a while since my last build. Thank you again for everyone's help.

I think only surprise is that the Ryzen seems to run quite warm - at sustained 100% load it is hitting about 75-78 degrees. I don't believe this is dangerous but still hotter than I maybe expected?

.This is kind of long, but if you have 20 minutes it is interesting:

Just finished watching - quite interesting that they're intentionally working at closer to limit temps now. Eases my mind about my temps given they were talking about 90+degrees.

Edit: Most important part - edited the old signature :D
