First water cooling attempt

i disagree, rad's look ugly at the back, on top is the best! just cut 3 blow holes for the fans like me and it will look bad ass :D

Yeah, but not if you can't put a 120.3 inside the case, which he can't (unless he gets creative and puts the PSU somewhere else). A 120.3 on top outside looks much bulkier than hidden behind the case.

Ok if i go for a Thermochill PA120.2 120mm Double Radiator would this be enough cooling for the cpu and gpu (without the ram water cooled).

This way i can mount the 120.2 rad with fans inside my case at the top, something like this mod : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17663542&page=1

except instead of 2 x 120.1 rads and 2 loops, i'd have 1 loop and a 120.2 rad mounted at the top of the case where matt100 has his 120.1 rad.

If your only going to use a PA120.2 then you may want to go for a GPU only block instead of full cover in order to minimise the heatload.

yeah i think reading some of the posts that you linked beh* i've decided to drop the full cover vga block thing and go with a "Swiftech MCW60R VGA Waterblock"

If you have room.. use two doubles rads instead of a single long triple..

You could have one before the CPU and before the GPU.

Just a thought.

I have the Edge and the double bay res.. Here's mine

Yeah i'd read your post before, partly why i'm going with that double res/pump in my spec. Unfortunatly i don't have the space in my rig for another double rad.. i could squeeze in a single 120.1 rad at the bottom front of my case... i could go res/pump up to > double rad down to> cpu > across to single rad across to > gpu > back up to res/pump...

not sure if that introduces too much flow restriction for the pump i've picked or not... sure does add to the price of my setup lol.

Whilst bigger is obviously better, a 120.2 will handle that easily. I run a 4Ghz dual-core and a GTX280 with an FC block on a Swiftech MCR220-QP and the 120.2 will be a bit better than the Swiftech.

Depends what you're after in terms of temps. If you're after water cooling to keep temps as low as humanly possibly and/or go for daft overclocks then you need all the cooling power you can get. If, OTOH, you're just after a system which is more efficient and quieter than air then a dual-120mm rad is more than enough for a CPU+GPU setup, even using full cover blocks.

awesome thanks for that info Vertigo1, thats got me decided i think i'll stick with the single loop and 1 120.2 rad. Just need to decide what tubes and stuff i need to go with it now..

No probs, FWIW I use a D-Tek Fuzion for the CPU and an EK FC block but the Acetal-topped one as I've also heard of cracking problems with acrylic ones as the block flexes and expands with temperature fluctuations.

ok my order now looks like this:

Thermochill PA120.2 120mm Double Radiator (£55.21)
Noctua NF-P12 120mm Silent Case Fan - x2 (£30.52)
Feser One UV Reactive Coolant 1 Litre (Blue) (£8.21)
XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir & Pump - Clear (£41.11)
Swiftech Apogee GTZ (LGA775) Waterblock (£52.86)
Swiftech MCW60R VGA Waterblock (£27.01)
Masterkleer 7/16" Tubing - 1m x2 (£4.68)

Total : £230.14

Is there anything else i need? will that tubing i picked do? also is the XSPC DDC 10w Pro Pump/Reservoir at (£58.74) that much better than the Dual 750 bay i've picked? as i think i can fit it in my case.. except it would be at the lowest point in the case..(should res not be at highest point in the loop?)

My res is in the bottom of my case and thats run problem free for 6months now.

The XSPC DDC 10w Pro Pump/Reservoir is better than the Dual 750 but it just depends if you have the space. One thing to consider, when i used to use a dangerden dual bay and a mcr220 rad, my loop held 1.5 litres.

For the price of the tubing i would probably get an extra metre just incase and to cover yourself of mistakes ;)

Can i ask why you went for the swiftech block over the fuzion? (nothing wrong with either, just interested in why lol) :p
