Hi all,

I am about to purchase my first WC build, and would greatly appreciate advice on what I have gone for. I'll take any advice/criticism on board, so please let me know - have I forgotten anything? Have I got anything wrong? Have I just made some bad choices?

Thanks very much in advance :)

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £2,413.32
(includes shipping: £38.16)

Maybe check out the EK Supremacy Evo range instead of the XSPC.
Change the D5 to the one with just the body+screwring and you'll want an EK pump top too.

This. I find the XSPC Raystorm looks quite dated, or at least at odds with the rest of the watercooling stuff available now.

Thanks a lot for the replies! In order...

Thanks for the reminder about fans - I put them under "cosmetics" which I'm adding later - mainly wanted to make sure I had the essential wc bits and they would all fit together and have the cooling ability for the gpu and cpu. The PSU, I have had brilliant experience with corsair before and so would like to stick with them as a brand, unless anyone has bad things to say?

Distilled water! Yes, thanks! I can get that locally though :-)

The monitor I thought was the best 4K at that sort of price bracket, I can't see a decent IPS without spending an extra couple of hundred?

CPU block, would this one work for the x99? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-water-blocks-ek-supremacy-evo-nickel-original-csq-wc-645-ek.html

Pump, I am guessing that this works? Please let me know if I'm wrong! https://www.overclockers.co.uk/xspc-d5-vario-body-screwring-wc-141-xs.html as the pump with this top https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-water-blocks-ek-xtop-revo-d5-plexi-wc-889-ek.html

Thanks again for all the help! Have I got enough/correct fixtures, fittings etc to shape, install and run this fresh wc setup?

No, that block wouldn't (same goes for the XSPC one too). You'd want something like this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-water-blocks-ek-supremacy-evo-x99-nickel-wc-844-ek.html, which is out of stock...

Yep, that's the right pump.
That Revo top would work and seems to have a decent mounting solution.

You have enough fittings (2 per component) and plenty of tubing to (hopefully) account for the inevitable mistakes you'll make when figuring out your bends, though you may or may not need a couple of 90°/45° angled rotaries. That really depends on how you've planned out your loop and whether you can get away with just bending the tubes.

Oh, and you could use distilled water and a kill coil, but I'd personally recommend just grabbing some Mayhems X1.

Dunno, it's just that they list the 'normal' ones as having 2011 compatibility (not 2011-3) and have the others with specific X99/2011-3 compatibility.

If the standard EK-Supremacy EVO doesn't work with 2011-3 then it's news to me - I have one installed in mine. I think what happens is that only the original product documentation gets listed and 2011-3 didn't exist then.

If you look at the EK Configurator you'll see it is ok.

That's what I read too... Apparently the dedicated 2011-3 offers 2-3% improved cooling but as it isn't in stock... Glad to hear someone else has used that configuration with success though :-)

Thanks a lot for the feedback and help. I have about 5 hours to sort anything else before I order for delivery tomorrow! Are build logs still a done thing?

Thought as much.
I can understand info not being updated for older models, it's just that I didn't want to chance it with someone else's build, considering that they've specifically labeled some as purely for X99.

On another note, is that Poseidon going underwater too?

Oh I forgot to mention also - seems the coolant colour I want doesn't come in a premix so I'll have to make it up myself, distilled water, dye, and a biocide? Thanks again all!

Ah yes, sorry I misunderstood. Last things I'm worrying about then, I'm pretty sure I have the fixing matched to the tube diameter ok, and I think I have enough equipment for the pipe bending (I have a saw that will work fine already)?

I think you may need another couple of fittings in that case.

Considered grabbing say, an EVGA SC+ and a proper block? It'd work out £20-30 more expensive, but y'know, in for a penny etc :D While you're there, bung another rad in the front lol.
I don't what your budget is and these things can spiral out of control if you're not careful, but if you're gonna go to the trouble of acrylic tubing and all that, you may as well get it all done and a properly blocked card would look sweet.

Ah, temptation ;-) I do know what you mean though, that red light on the ROG is going to annoy the carp out of me in a green/purple rig. If I'm attaching a waterblock shouldn't I just go for the reference 980ti and some thing like this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-water-blocks-ek-fc980-gtx-acetal-wc-652-ek.html (I need to check the compatibility). Good spot with the fittings, thanks!

The budget is... Flexible (unlike the tubing!) and aesthetics are pretty high on the list ;-)
