Hi all,

I've been using AOI watercooling for quite some time (i7-3770k,H100i) but I've always wanted to setup a custom loop.

I've been looking at xspc / ekwb parts but im not really sure what to buy / how to plan the loop.

Should I consider RAM cooling? (I'm 70%/30% No/Yes, as I won't be overclocking the RAM).

The case / motherboard I have are the following (Dual E5 2670, All ram slots occupied, 64GB):

Asus Z10PE-D8 WS:

EVGA DG-87:

Here is what I have in mind:

What RAD sizes should I use? This build will be doing rendering, so 3-24 hour 100% load sprints.

Thanks for any advice :D

Rad size is usually dictated by what your case can accommodate.

Don't think you'll see any benefit changing from aio to custom loop with what you use the rig for. A pair of OcUK 240mm aio wold be fine for this. (Asetek units).

For custom you'll usually be better off having all fans in push config. The ocuk/Silverstone fans are excellent and have peak efficiency at low rpm so won't be intrusive with noise. All 4 fans can plug directly to mobo and you can set curve/profile in bios.

Loop from cpu 1 should go to rad 2, cpu 2 then back to pump/res.

It's a relatively small loop so D5 combi would be ideal.

Rad sizes don't need to be the same, just use whatever fits in the case best, same with depth.

Absolutely no point in w/c'ing the ram unless you want to for aesthetics / blow money / induce more heat into cpu loop.

Hi Doug,

I broke one of the AIO's i was using (H90, Don't ask...) so the workstation isn't even being used - So I thought this would be an ideal opportunity to try to build my own cooling.

"Full support for dual 420mm or 360mm radiators give you ultimate cooling performance, with a dedicated section for mounting reservoir."

-The above is from the EVGA website, but the thickness of the radiator is a concern as I'm using an EEB board.

"Top radiator, is now a Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis GTS 420, 30mm radiator.
Right radiator (front), is now a Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis GTX 420, 60mm radiator."

Reading this thread about the case:
http://forums.evga.com/DG87-Radiator-Compatibility-m2533462.aspx

Definently not going with the WC route for the ram. :)

RAD1 is in the front, Case (I believe) comes with 3 front fans already, Would you advise that I replace them with static pressure fans?
