well been testing this since early alpha and some great fun to be had :D

its on steam (since yesterdays launch) its 1.7gb dl and ftp for all content except premium gear (which isn't needed but you can buy if you want to )

if you after a fishing game or something different to play give it a look.

you lvl up by catching fish. you earn money buy catching fish which in turn buys your tackle/gear.as you level up and earn more you can move on to other lakes and bigger fish.

simple idea which works very well.you arnt held back by the ftp model either.

F2P games are sneaky with grind and cheating making you lose to make you think you need the extras. Is this really any different or is it legit. As in the game wont cheat making you waste your time never catching anything or never big stuff ever till you cough up for a dlc or somit.

Had a quick go. Gfx are nice, menus seem a little overwhelming tho i didnt pay much attention as i just wanted a quick go. Casting seems automated u cant do a proper cast with a swing of your mouse you just point and click and it goes to a default spot it seems as i couldnt pull back hard and then swing forwards at all to make it go futher or where i wanted to with the mouse. When hooking fish theres not sound like a tension noise to know if your going to snap the line like in other games i have played. Its just dull quiet.

Has the gfx nailed down but apart from that the casting doesnt seem to have a swing system, audio is lacking in places, menu is a bit much for a new comer to the game. Other fishing games have been better presented. I miss the amiga fishing game i got from public domain as it was called then. It was perfect.

you cast further by pressing f11 also a accurate cast system to where ever you want.

there is the tension bar on the right.set your drag by pressing - and +

some things could be explained better but its quite indepth once you learn what is what.

there is a server load issue at moment.which they are fixing.

I haven't played a fishing game since Sega Bass Fishing, also, haven't been actual fishing in ages so already got this downloading! Thanks OP

Well, once you get to grips a bit with the controls it's not too bad, the Inventory and shop are a disaster but semi-usable, I have no clue why I can't buy certain things, I'm guessing items are Level Locked but there's no hints or prompts, I also have no idea how I have any cash, definitely not buying any In-Game Currency for it at this early stage.

I also managed to randomly snag the bottom which resulted in a broken line which also rather mysteriously destroyed my rod and reel (Wow, am I glad that doesn't ever happen in RL!).... Which meant I could no longer fish for another 40 or 50 0.4Lb Bluegills. It would let me buy a Rod but wouldn't let me have it, I would have had to go 'Home' to get the rod and you have to pay to Travel... Hmmmmm...;)

I will probably try to persevere with it as there are very few Fishing Games out there and it does look promising but needs an awful lot of polishing, the £56 DLC Package on STEAM was very eyebrow raising too.

Tried this last night, quite fun but it would take hours and hours to get to fish anything interesting with FTP. As mentioned already the shop and inventory are a mess otherwise it seems fairly solid and looks like it might be pretty in depth later on with equipment unlocked etc

Played it for about 30 mins, seems ok for a FTP, nice little time waster. Hopefully they won't lean too much into the "freemium" type of things where its completely necessary to pay actual money to enjoy the game.

Having played quite a few hours on the game now, can confirm it's actually quite fun once you get up in the levels. I think if there was more of a multiplayer spin, that is, so you can play with your friends it might be more enjoyable. But overall pretty damn good for a FTP game.

Sounds like a realistic fishing simulator to me if you never catch anything.

Well i continued to try it and im at level 5. The struggle was getting from 2 to 3 but as soon as i started getting bass, catfish and bigger fish i was ok. Level 3-4 and 4-5 went by really quick i thought in comparrison.

I tend to use spinners now as big fish seem to go for em compared to bait and hook. Trying the new york map atm, caught some pike and yellow perch and green pike look alike things. Not sure how to get the other ones yet. Shame u cant net pike tho.

Its kinda enjoyable except when when u know ur doing ok and ur failing to catch anything. But when ur going good u enjoy it. Bass easy enough, just go far left, use a spinner or red worms near the left reeds area, catfish bread or cheese in middle of first map and about depth of 20in dont cast too far. Barely catch bluegill now.

Got some unique and trophy fish. I caught first time on new york map a large black crabbie unique and was a biggun. Couldnt keep it tho, grr.

Needs mp tho, like a mate sitting next to u and use voice or somit to pass the time. They really need moderators in the chat box tho or a way to ignore ppl. Some very dodgy talk on some spots.

Also needs to have some tutorials on how to get certain fish or tips on how to catch certain fish, like recommended bait or spinner and rod etc and depth. Especially for those that arnt used to fishing.

i have done some videos on bass , pike , and catfish.

mudwater river which is the beginner cheap costing lake bass go upto about 5lb with right gear. as you move up you can go to bigger better lakes with monster fish in . these cost more to goto though.

i think there is going to be a side by side edition as there was a dual option in early testing. so probably coming in future.

in chat it does say groups and comps so obviously more to come

What id love to know is how to catch big fish at new york one. Most ive got is a 3lb black crappie unique but that was a one off. Rest even the pike are small 1lb or less sometimes. :( I expected 2-4lbers as the norm there.

Ah i saw ur new york vid last night. Nicely done.

you do get bigger pike right out in middle but you need right gear to cast that far. ;)

so look at reels and lines for maximum distance.most of the bigger fish are at further distance.

Want to get some carp but they are sooo many levels away :( looks like their FTP model has worked on me, think i'll get premium later tonight.
