Fitocracy

got to say the logging is a bit tempramental, tried to add something today ontop of yesterdays (which was logged as today ?!) and it deleted yesterdays.

seems you can only do one log per day. but level 2 :D

You can only do 1 log per day but all you do is add another exercise by choosing the "add session" which adds another workout session to the same day.

Erm I stupidly requested an invite, now I try to use one of those links above and it says my email address is already in use :(

Is it just a case of waiting for them to send me an invite now? Damn their exclusivity :o

Send me an email in trust and I'll send you an invite.

looks like it could be a laugh... gonna be a pain logging all my reps and sets though.

You can save a full workout if you want so you can add them when you do them and all you need to do is modify the weights/reps as you go.

It's more the keeping track of the sets/reps when i do the workout. My hypertrophy days are done more by feel than specific set/rep ranges, so i'm going to have to note them down each time.

hmmm, just logged my cycle from this morning.
The points system seems massively bias in favour of cardio activities.

Using cheets workout yesterday as an example (ignoring the cardio he did):
Shoulder press + press ups + deadlifts = 128 points
I got 3500 points for a 67 mile cycle.

Granted, my cycle was 3 hours of suffering, but it shouldnt be worth 27 times more than a weights session (which i expect was at least 45 mins of suffering?).

Less than 1 point per pushup?

It's not just the distance or time, though, it's the effort put out. If I had maintained the same pace on my solo ride this morning to achieve the same distance as you, I'd have only gotten 2450 points. It's probably based on calories burned, which I guess is the "fairest" way of comparing aerobic to anaerobic exercise... who knows, eh?

Agreed about the cardio thing. I got 670 points for 30 mins of running (3.9miles) which the system equated to about 5 times more than cheets for probably roughly the same timescale...

As Saundie says tho, I think its about total effort. Now I am not having a go at the non-cardio exercises but I can bet even the weights people will agree that running is a constant effort whereas weights (and even cycling) allow micro-recovery resulting in total time recorded not equating to "exercise time" if that make sense.

They did mention on their forums that Running was "nerfed" a few days ago to make it give less points. Other exercises are "buffed" in the same way.

As for pushups - Looking at mine, you get 0.5 points per pushup, the same with crunches which is a bit poor TBH.

Well that shouldn't matter because you shouldn't be doing crunches :)

Is this really just a cardio thing? How are the points weighted (ahem) for weights?

Because crunches are actually bad for your lumbar spine and promote poor movement patterns. Situps are worse for the development of your core as they recruit your hip flexors.

Doing these kinds of "ab" exercises have become hugely popular for no good reason at all. They will not help you get a six pack, and they do not strengthen your core. Your core is designed to resist movement, and working your rectus abdominis with crunches neglects the smaller stabilisers.

Machine types -
The Gym I have joined has Technogym equipment, and the names of the weightsare not in the fitocracy database.
So help please!
Low Row - http://www.technogym.com/gb/product...re-exercises-equipment/element-+/low-row/1775
Vertical Traction - http://www.technogym.com/gb/product...ses-equipment/selection/vertical-traction/451

That website is horrible... the main graphic just shows a load of different machines.

I THINK the "Low Row" is a chest supported row machine, but in the database the closest i can see is T-bar rows

Vertical Traction seems to be some sort of lat pulldown machine, so depending on what grip you use got for wide or narrow grip pulldowns

VThe vertical traction moves both independently in a radial sort of motion. ~Like this
Good equipment, the whole gym works off the TGS keys. Just wish I could access it online!
T Bar seems close enough in the actions.

Turns out it still doesn't let me use my proper email address as it's "already registered" :(

I'll just use another address I guess.

Use another address, login, change to your desired email. Done! :)

I had to do it when the browser crashed part way through signup! :(
