Fitted wardrobes in an attic

That looks really good for £4000 for how many there are, the interiors arent as good as they are nowadays, but those are pretty much standard for what you would have gotten when they were built. Also they look like real wood?

Still can't believe they wanted £4400 for the OP's design!

We have PAX wardrobes in the kids rooms.

Took my time building the making sure everything was square / in solidly. The internal gubbins like the rails and mesh trays etc have made them pretty solid and they aren't / don't need to be screwed back to the wall. They're are a decent wardrobe buy wouldn't be happy with them in the main bedroom without some serious "hacks"

The house before the one we are in now had Hammond fitted wardrobes / bedside drawers and chest of drawers in three of the bedrooms. They tried to use it as a tactic of value when we got to negotiating the price.

We stood firm and said we hated them (we didn't) and were going to take them all out when we moved in (we weren't) and if they liked them so much they could remove them before we completed but I wanted all the walls / ceilings and decorations making good.

They relented and the agent told us that fitted furniture is always marmite and although, generally, they add value it completely depends if the buyer likes the concept and / or the style of the furniture.

I really wish this applied to the pre installed bog standard kitchens, bathroom and any flooring too. I tried to renegotiate the flooring incentive my house came because I wanted better flooring, but they wouldn't let me because it was considered free and I could simply pay to change the flooring after moving in. Additionally the builder offered upgraded flooring throughout the house for just £500, but the HA wouldn't even let me do this. I also wanted a wider L shaped walk in tub, but will now have to pay for a whole bathroom remodel next.

If it does ever come to selling my house, the HA has first right of refusal and from what it seems, the better furnished / easier to rent out, the more likely they will simply repurchase the property to reuse as social housing.

If you've assembled them well, and also depending on the layout you have, its not always an issue.

However there are many such cases as these examples from people that have used PAX wardrobes

There are, but unless you put something at the top that's heavy, or open a drawer that's heavy and changes the weight characteristics (like anything that is tall), it's going to topple...lol.

It wasnt a new build - the previous owner had installed them (at, I suspect, great expense)

So the wardrobes are done :)

Got all this done for just £2k. Very happy with the quality and finishing. The clothes rails are very solid, bet I could swing off them hahaha. The doors have a lovely feel when you close them, like they are being air cushioned when they are about to close.

If anyone one wants to know where I got them done from pls DM me as I don't think I'm alout to advertise a business on these forums.
