Hey all,

EK have sent me some replacement screws for this block as i noticed some manufacturing defects and thought to get a replacement in case of leaks etc.

I'm not fitting the block and whilst it's hard enough as it is looking for a good guide to install it, i'm at a loss as to what screws are needed to fit the block.

The block initially comes with
4x 7mm m2.5 screws in silver
12x 4mm m2.5 screws in black

On EK's manual, it states to use 4 of the 4mm black screws to secure the PCB to the block, while the 7mm silver screws secure the backplate to the block.... however on every guide i have checked online shows people using the 7mm screws on for the PCB and the black screws for the backplate.

Which screws am i meant to be using and for which part? :S

ignore.. found my answer.. both silver and black versions of the block come with different coloured screws to match the blocks back plate.. after checking the replacement screws i was sent, i received the silver version and that had black 7mm screws, whereas the black block i have have silver coloured screws..

so confusing especially when every guide was using a silver version of the block

Good to know for future reference
Nice they went to the trouble of colour coordinating
The screws to the different coloured block though
Guess the people doing the guides also
Didn't realize or they would have mentioned that

Yeah i too would have expected, but haven't really seen any reviewers dismantle a black version of the block.. seems the silver one is either too popular or they are given a sample where they can't choose the colour.

Either way managed to get my rig running and testing. Looks a mess but waiting on parts before rejigging the rig.

Temps reach 45c max, hotspot temps in the early 60s.

Yeah it's very possible that they
Just sent all the reviewers the same colour
And nice to see I am not only one
Who likes to use quick disconnects you don't see
Many people use them
Not as clean looking I guess
But more than make up for that in usefulness
In my opinion anyway

the QDC are brilliant.. but only really useful if you frequency swap stuff around, have external radiators or to use as a temporary solution
