Fitting a Tuniq Tower

i couldnt put my paste on with a credit card lol, so i just put a diagonal line and a couple of dots either side.

im thinking of taking it off though to check where is covered. one of my core temps fluctuates a bit :s

i did wiggle the heatsink around too before attaching more firmly. (which was a pain in the as in this case  because my psu got in the way)

im probably doing somethign wrong lol! :P

Hi, using AS5 with the line method. E6600 running @ 3ghz, 1.20 volts idle temp 25c, load temp 35c...

Can the Tuniq Tower wiggle at all (to spread the thermal paste around) with the screws in it?

Does anybody have a photograph of how much thermal paste should be applied when using the "line" method. I know artic silver shows the red line for how to apply it, but it doesn't really show how much thermal paste should be applied.

Hmmm ive discovered something im getting 30c max After running S&M benchmark with my Tuniq....

Q6600 Quad core chip as well, perhaps mines not screwed tight enuff or seated properly?

The thing is that back plate when u stick it on the bottom of the mobo ive noticed it doesnt quite go thru the holes on the mobo.... is that normal? I tighted the screws as much as they could still they didnt rotate anymore so it seemed pretty solid!

Anything im doing wrong?

Are you saying that 30 degrees Celsius is too high for your Q6600, which is making you think you haven't mounted the Tuniq Tower properly?

30 degrees Celsius is, well, pretty amazing for one of Intel's Quad Core chips on load. I see nothing wrong here, except maybe that the temperature reading is too low. What are you using to measure your temperatures?

Perhaps i've misinterpreted what you're saying.

Well a lot of guys say there Core2duo chips are running around 35-45c on load... I think mines a tad bit too low Asus Probe reports currently @ 20c idle @ 1.6ghz, after a game it can hit 30c.... temps on the mobo seem right cos its 35c thats with every pc ive owned.

I just think my tuniq might not be mounted right thats unbeliable temps surely? I got an Asus P5B mobo and Q6600 and tuniq fan is on lowest....

I want to see screens/proof of 3.2 ghz + overclocked core 2 duo's running 35c full orthos load please :D i wouldnt go around believing anything until you see
it with your own eyes.+ half the temp readers are wrong anyway i'd only ever go by tat or coretemp i think 45-60 c full load is a more believable temp.
Speedfan everest give me stupidly low temp readings and i just dont believe them.Let somebody post here a TAT picture of a an overclocked c2d full orthos load tuniq tower at 35c and i'll eat my hat.

Hmm guess ill belive my super low temps then ;) my Tuniq doesnt even get warm, mind u it hasnt crashed once and its been up and running 24/7 for a week now and ive been playing CnC3/SC hardcore style over weekend without crashing/freezing :)

Just ran Coretemp and it shows my temps a lot more accurate I belive, says there 38-40c idle, with SP2004 orthos running after 10 minutes it says 48-50c, I belive that a lot more then the Asus bundeled software ;)

I just put a blob of AS5 in the middle of the CPU clamp the HS or water block on and runn the CPU at 50-60C (hardly any coolint) for 24 hours to spread the AS5 and then resume normal cooling and over clock away....
I allways get a perfectly thin layer and any bumps, dints ect get filled....
Running 25C idol 30C load with fan on ldol...
