Fitting an AIO in an old case?

About six months ago I bought an 280mm AIO cooler on impulse as it was cheap, haven't got round to fitting it yet. I really need to though as CPU temps are high and my current huge air cooler is mounted a bit awkward.
Been doing some research about how to set it up, mounting the radiator etc and I'm a bit concerned about how to physically install it. I have a fairly oldschool case (Chieftec Blue Dragon), it doesn't have fan holes at the top/bottom, just the back and one fan in the side panel. From what I can ascertain the best place to put the rad is probably at the front but I can see that being awkward even with the 3.5" bays removed, 5.25 might get in the way. There's no obvious mounting points and the airflow will be pretty restricted.

Now I'm not too fussed about how things look, my computers have cables all over the place, mismatched colours etc, but I don't want to run into problems with the cooling. I'm tempted to just whack it in and secure it with a cable tie or something, has anyone else done something like this?

TBH? Send it back and either buy a bigger heatsink or re-fit your current one properly if it's decent. Case airflow is likely to be an issue with radiators if it's not already with heatsinks.

Doubt I can send the AIO back after all this time, Current heatsink is ginormous (1.2kg without fans, 165x151x150mm, rated to 340W TDP) so I doubt I could get bigger (it already makes accessing one of the RAM slots a bit tricky), I got it second hand though and the mounting is kinda 'broken' so I doubt I can get a perfect mount with it.

If you've got a 300W+ heatsink I don't think a 240mm AIO is likely to improve your temps, I think this is down to either poor mounting or poor case airflow. Former would be improved by installing a new cooler at least!

Maybe mount the radiator externally somehow, don't know how to do this though or if it even possible.

What is the air cooler and can you get a mounting kit for your air cooler?

Buy a new case that can house the AIO.
