ive ordered some pioneer 6x9s (due tues) but i have now a new pioneer headunit and some pioneer componant speakers. couple questions as ive taken the side door off and what I can see.

1) Do I put the cross over box in the door aswell, the cables dont look that long
2) the existing standard pug speakers obviously have its own connector and its different, can I use this or should I buy speaker wire and fit somehow, if so how.
3) Im tempted to buy an amp but will have to wait for few weeks, is it possible to hook up the 6x9s and the compants to the headunit or should i wait for a bit.
4) the speaker looks like it doesnt fit in the door, its bit deeper then the standard speakers do I have to drill something out?

any help would be great

thanks

1) Mount it inside the door frame, sticky pads will help
2) Either get a speaker adapter cable or cut the plug off and crimp some spade connectors on
3) The head unit will be able to drive both, just dont turn it up loud enough to distort or you'll damage the speakers
4) You can get spacer rings to give you some more depth

You can mount the crossover inside the foam in the door card (cut a space for it). Bit fiddly when it's wired up but an easy reversible job.

The existing mounts have plastic in the middle, just get a hack saw blade and cut those out and leave the rest of the mounts in. If that leaves no clearance then you can use Autoleads spacers from a Vectra (I think) or make some MDF rings.

My advice is to get an amp and fit everything then as you'll need to route new cable from the amp to the door for a proper installation and it's a fiddly arse of a job. At least then you can retain the existing pug wiring if you wanna go back to standard. Last thing you want is to keep popping the door cards off etc. It's worth getting spare clip from Peugeot too. They'll probably give you 100 for a quid or something, or even free in my case.

Check www.206info.co.uk. They had an audio section from memory, will be lots of pics of installs on there.

Depending on how good the speakers/amp are it might not be worth running dedicated wiring for it. If they're not top quality stuff, its easier to run the speaker cables from the amp to the DIN connector behind the dash, avoids taking the door cards off again

I got:

Pioneer TS-A170CI front componants - 260watt
Pioneer TS-A6903i 6x9s - 350watt
and Pioneer DEH-2120UB headunit

so far, if that helps

Definitely not going to make any difference doing a dedicated cable run, thats all relatively low end kit

1) Yeah mount it behind the doorcard

2) either crimp or solder the cables, most secure and cheapest way http://www.mmxpress.com/technical/connections.htm
This is a good guide if you haven't done it before.

3) The speakers can be powered via the headunit, you won't notice a huge difference if they're decent speakers just powering from the head unit. If they are anything decent an amp will always sound much better. But an amp is wasted on **** speakers.

4) Get some spacer rings if they wont fit.
