Im a little confused as to what do do here and if anyone could shed any light it would be much appreciated.

Is this the first thing I do before mounting the motherboard in to the case?

Any basic steaps would be amazing.

Thanks.

First off do not use the sticky bit on the backplate it's a nightmare to get off just leave the sticker on it.
ok best thing is get some tape masking tape electrical tape cellotape or anything you can muster.

Have the motherboard outside the case now take the backplate the 775 one and it's screws.

Now put the backplate on the back of the board the white sticky bit which you are not sticking touching the board, and screw the screws in a bit or just line up the holes and tape it firmly in place on the back of the board.

Now install the cpu with thermal paste lower the heatsink ontop
in the orientation so the fan is blowing toward the rear the black fins should be pointing downwards towards the pci slots if done correctly.

Once lowered get the screws put the springs on them and put into the holes so the springs are on the top side of board and tighten them by fingers until it's quite hard to turn them anymore.

Be careful not to move it around too much to mess up the thermal paste.
Once tightened remove the tape from underneath the board.

It is quite difficult. Considering the instrucions are unbelievably basic and the pictures are like they used some little kid to copy the drawings.
