hi all just a quick one,

I havent played football for 5 years now and through college done next to no exercise so i decided im going to do something about it. Now im starting football training tomorrow and they do a hour circuit training then have a game of footy. Now i get tired and out of breath after about 30 minutes ! :( i no that is awful, thats why im doing someting about it.

Can you give me some tips please on how mot to pass out

Cheers

Running and cycling are probably your best bet if you dont want to go to the gym.

Im in a similar pediciment, I havent done much excersise since i came to uni. Before i played tennis, rugby, went to the gym and cycled at least once a week. At the end of july i have a race (running, clambering etc) to go to and need to get some serious fitness up. When i get home im going to join a gym and train about twice a week and jog and cycle at least 2 more times a week. Hopefully I will be able to regain some fitness. Thats probaby the best idea for you too, although just reduce or increase the amount you do depending on how fit you want to get.

Take it easy for the first few sessions. Do lots of warm up stretches. A lot of people go back playing football and injury themselves by overdoing it.

ok guys thanks i just think that hour circuit training is a bit mad for my first load of exercise for 2 years :p

any times you can give me for the session tomorrow?

you guys forgot to mention which foods he should be eating.
If your aim is not to pass out then i recommend eating foods that release sugar slowly into your blood stream, so things like bread, potato, and i found porridge works good too.
This means avoid eating things that release energy into your blood stream quickly and then leave you on a right 'low', i could go into detail as to why this happens but i wont :D So avoid chocolate bars and crisps and things like that. Also avoiding eating lots of stuff right before you exercise, the last thing you wont to do is be doing a hard workout while trying to digest the food you just ate
Also for a good CV workout try rowing. If done properly its a right killer, but a VERY good excercise.

Im by no means an expert in this area, so this may need some correcting by any experts that may be reading this. But i have a good source (my mother: has been personal training for 20 years :) ).
-edit- ooh forgot to add, drink plenty of water also...seriously.

When I went to the Physio when I did my ankle ligaments, she knew immediately I was back playing footie after being off for a while. People like us our some of their most frequent customers. Apparently most of use injury ourselves trying to play like you remember you could, when you no where near as fit. You need to give the auld bod a bit of time to regain some strength, especially in joints for twisting and stopping, that you don't use for anything else. Avoid the astroturf boots, wear some thing thats less grippy so you can slide. With astroturf boots you can outstop, outturn your own knees and ankles. Not pretty.
