Hi
if you fix your IP on your internal network to say 192.168.1.12 and the router is providing dynamic ips for the rest of the devices - what is to stop 192.168.1.12 being allocated first to another machine then you log on and try and set that IP as your own fixed one ?
just thinking, if I set mine to a high no. (12 isnt bad anyway) say 192.168.1.55 I could be pretty sure that no one would be allocated 192.168.1.55 ?
any networking bods agree with this ?
also, maybe option to fix the ip on every device on the network but that doesn't sound a good idea
this is a home network so experimental use really - portforwarding to 1 pc only
thanks
