does anyone know how to fix overblown images particularly the face area? i have a photo which is very light and over exposed? i think its due to the fact that my flash was too strong. i'd like to know how to fix it with photoshop

Generally, and this is what I was told in a nightcourse I did, if its blown, the information from that area is gone. You might be able to darken the picture, but you wont get the detail back.
I'm sure someone more experienced will be along to correct me soon though.

Pretty much.

It depends on how severe the blow out is. You might be able to rescue it with some levelling and what not, but it's not likely to substitute a correctly exposed shot.

Did you shoot raw?

Can you show us the picture you are trying to fix?

Andrew

Some people have had limited sucess enhancing the detail stored in teh raw images if the camera shoots that... but generally its just a case of tweaking to try and make it less noticeable... theres a whole thread about it on here somewhere.

the details is still visable in the photo but it looks very pale. i want to add more skin tone and reduce the lightness on the face. what is the best method to do this?

Any chance of showing the image or a link to the full sized image? Someone might be able to work on it and then teach you? A picture speaks a thousand word to us.
