Flash Drive Formatting Help

Long story short, I cancelled a format of my new 64gig Memory Stick.

Now when I plug it in, it says it needs formatting, I click to do so and it does nothing.

If I open 'Disk Management' that seems to hang until I remove the Flash Drive.

Any tips on how I can now format the drive?

If Windows can't format it (perhaps try safe mode too) I'd give a utility like unetbootin a go. Go through the motions as if you were going to create a Linux Live USB drive, see if it formats. Failing that, booting to a GParted live CD, you should be able to format it. That is assuming it's a legit 64GB drive and not an eBay special

I've had the same with Windows format, complete and utter pants. I found the only way around it is to wait for a good 10minutes for it to detect and then do a full format (Not quick). As you found, much better off using a third party program
