Flash gun for 350d

I want to get a flash gun for the 350d, anyone got one that will do the job.

Say between 100-200, i came across Sigma EF-500 DG St Flashgun but dont know if thats any good.


Also seen this for sale, Canon Speedlite 430EX Flashgun but thats around 200, if the one above will do the job i would rather get that instead of spending 200 on something thats only a little better.

i purchased a 550ex, 2nd hand but practically new from a camera shop for £170, really opened my eyes to flash photography, didn't realise you could be so creative a lot of reviews rate this model very highly

You can get a 430EX for ~£160 if you look around.

Think that's what I paid for mine when it first came out.

Well I'd say it was pretty good. Is pretty easy to use, and looks good too. But I'm a Canon fanboy so I'm a bit biased.

A lot of people here use the 430, and I'm sure they'd recommend it too.

Practical Photography tested it alongside the Sigma (and others), and said that the Sigma struggled to hold its own against the Canon, as it was similarly priced and would have to be significantly cheaper to make it the better option. It also didn't perform well in the wide angle tests.

I would suggest you also budget for a good set of rechargable batteries if you don't already have some, my 430 ate through Duracells like they were going out of fashion, so I switched to some 2700mAh ones from Vapextech. Also, you'd benefit from faster recycle times using rechargables.

I just got a 430ex last week. havn't had much use for it as of yet but it's gonna get its first proper test tonight.

so far i'm more then pleased with it and i paid under £160 for it from Kerso.

I have the sigma EF-500 DG St and I think it works great... it meets my requirements fine especially for my budget.
