when are flash hard drives going to be going up in storage and down in price? just wondering as I'm planning on doing an entire new system, and they look v good.

thanks

They've only recently come to market and are kinda only from one manufacturer atm it seems so competition is low.

This time next year should see double capacity at same price, or maybe lower. Really depends on when the big companies start using it tbh.

Get a 150Gb Raptor and a 16Gb one for windows ;)

I remember paying £180 for a 8.4gb 5400 IBM a long time ago it was huge in it's day, yet last week I threw away a working 20gb cause I'm short of space.

Funny old world.

I'd like to see some which are SATA II as well, I think they're either SATA I or PATA atm.

The reason they're only SATA I or PATA is because they aren't fast enough to need a SATA II interface right now anyway.. The fastest drive I've seen so far thats almost affordable has sustained read speeds of 120Mb/sec and 100Mb/sec write speeds... So it's not like SATA is a bottleneck just yet.

I've been considering buying a small one to boot windows, but a decent 16Gb drive is £350.. Which is a bit too pricey. I hope the price comes down in the next few months as I'm looking to build a new rig.
