Flash Photography: Where do I start?!

it will be lit, but you'll have to be manual on the camera and on the flashes. thats the way i use mine.

I also often use an on camera 465, and optically trigger the 460 (like in the 50's shots of my wife i posted).

optically trigger? I'm lost again. if you've got the 465 on the hotshoe how is the other flash triggered as i thought the trigger had to be on the camera for it to work.

if you buy the 460II, it can work as a slave, it has a light detector on the front and flashes when it detects another flash. 465 on camera flashes > 460II flashes. This only works indoors or in very dull light, hence the need for the wireless triggers.

Just ordered the RF-602 with 2 receivers along with a 460 off ebay tonight. Will be paying for it via the n95 I've just got rid of through Mazuma

Will see about getting a 465 later on as i dont think I'll need it just yet, unless of course the Vivitar becomes unusable!

460II yes? the 460 is quite a bit inferior - no hope against the sun, whereas the 460 is pretty strong.

I've a funny feeling its just the 460

looking back at the listings I think there was only one place selling the 460ii and I'd rather avoid that having been ripped off from there before.

Yeah strobist is amazing, this book was recommended on the site: Light - Science and Magic: An Introduction to Photographic Lighting, I found it to be excellent.
