FLASH probs

hi all ive got the newest vir of flash installed on my pc but some sites that use flash say its not there or needs turning on !!

How the hack do i turn it on?? can any one help a noob??

What browser are you using? Was the browser open whilst you installed Flash? You might need to restart the PC to get the Flash plugin to register properly.

IE7 (was ok on IE6)
yes browser was open but comp was restarted

Hmm. Did you do an online or offline install? If it was an online one doesn't the browser get sent to the Flash test page where a Flash animation is played to test the install?

...and is this in Vista?

I eventually got IE7 in Vista to recognise Flash by using the adobe uninstaller in safe mode then reinstall offline and run the installer as administrator.

nope XP pro never had probs before just the last few months ie stoped liking flash

You sure? I can't see anything that looks as if a post has been removed.

Clear the IE cache? Er you checked Adobe's site for help on this kind of error? Searched the forum for past occurences of this?

did you try the standalone installer as mentioned above. it's an .exe file you can save and run when your browser is closed.

Go into IE's options. Should be a cache button somewhere.

Either that or try CCleaner.com to use the CCleaner tool. Install it and make sure you select on the IE cache. Check both tabs of selections to make sure you've done this.

OR let the missus have a play with the PC. Should be borked soon enough that you can justify a format and reinstall.
