Looking at getting a flash for Xmas but a little unsure which one to suggest. First off I was planning on getting a wireless transmitter (RF-602) so I can experiment (I'm only 6months into using a dslr)

Now I can't quite make up my mind between the following

YN-465
YN-468
Jessops 360AFD

Now looking at the specs the YN-468 seems the most capable interms of controlling flash /TTL/zoom but I maybe wrong so I'm open to comments and suggestions on which on to get.

I can't compare, but i have the YN468 and it's a brilliant flashgun for the price. Does everyone I want it to for now, not that i've used it much though.

Without looking at the ones you listed? Whats your budget?

I went for a cheaper option with regards going wireless for now, picked up a transmitter & receiver from the bay, new, for £20, aftermarket product of course and doesnt support the E-TTL but a bit of playing and you can set the power manually to achieve the effect you require.

So, whats your budget for the flashgun itself?

Just been presented with the same choice, actually.

For the Yong Nuo brand, you might as well get the biggest/baddest YN-560 as the cost difference is negligible - the extra power will let you work through tupperware (Stofens) and give you better 'bounce'.

Being in exactly the same position as you, I bought a Canon 550EX off the 'bay and plan to experiment with secondary units (borrow my bro's 430EX II). I'll let you know how I get on. Especially considering it cost £80-odd more than the YN-560. :)

But considering I don't buy camera gear often, at least I'll be able to sell it for near enough what I paid for it...

Well I wanted to spend no more than £50 (a tight xmas, especially after this morn :( ) but I'll probably push for a 468. I read a review about the YN560 but its just got raw power and none of the control that the 468 has and that is probably what I'll need.

Is the 468 the one with the "soft-touch" buttons, and the 465 with the physical switches/dials?

I've got a couple of 460's, and I detest the "soft-touch" buttons - they worked OK for a couple of months, then since then they've been much more difficult to operate, usually I have to jab the power ones with my car key to turn them on!

Other than that - I got 2x 460's, 2x RF-602 receivers and a RF-602 receiver for about £100 - definitely one of my best investments recently!

The YN-560 may be more powerful but doesn't have E-TTL or auto-zoom so if you want to use it on-camera the 465/8 is probably better. I haven't had a problem with lack of power yet.

Yeah it is. But seems to be fine for me.
