so, my route to work includes a two-lane road that's always busy with traffic
the left lane is a bus lane, until about 20m from a set of lights
the traffic heads straight and i do a left at the lights
sometimes I'm cheeky and go into the bus lane (I know, it's wrong) to reach the traffic lights and do my left turn

this morning I nipped into the bus lane and a speed camera flashed (I was about 70-80m from it)
I don't think I triggered it (was only doing about 5mph) but the photo will show me in a bus lane!

can I get fined? what about points?

ok - that's reassuring! I'd hate points >> than a fine
thought at that distance (70m) the camera might not pick up my plate...

It depends on the camera but for me there were a number of pics taken when I got done for doing something similar back in April.

For me there a bus lane for around 200 metres, the lane stops around 30 metres before the lights which is where I normally take a left, there's always traffic in the right hand lane, I don't remember doing so but I must have nipped into the lane just before it stops and got done but the camera that did was one of those globe/round black cameras that now seem to be put up at every street corner. Not the normal camera as I think there must be a remote operator who picks out people and snaps away.

i should have mentioned, there were no other cars in the bus lane, that's why I was surprised the camera triggered, given that I was not speeding

Mate of mine got done. Didn't remember doing it so he asked for a photo.

Picture shows him half in the lane undertaking a vehicle turning right.

Seems a bit of an unfair cop to me but thems the breaks.

At least it was no points.
