Flashing object in the Sky - Stoke.

I've just looked outside and their is an object very high in the sky that was flashing like a beacon every second or so. It is perfectly still and it's been their for about 10 mins. Can anyone else in stoke notice this?

I've seen chinese lanterns before, it's not one of those. It's like a beacon flash.

Nobody is going to fly halfway across the universe just to look at Stoke-on-Trent.

Probably the planet Venus twinkling near the west. It appears after sunset (can be seen sometimes in daylight too). It is the third brightest object in the sky...not usually very high up mind as its usually close to the Sun.
