Hi Guys,

So came home last night to see we have been broken into, my mac has been taken.

Few lessons learned, firstly to do backups as I have lost everything.

However does anyone know how to report it to Apple? I will give Google a bash shortly but thought I'd ask the forum first. I know it doesn't help me get it back but it may stop someone from buying a stolen one.

Cheers

Yeah done the police report, also having to pursue legal advice regarding the landlady as the locks and the doors in this place could be broken into by a 6 year old.

She last night in her panic said she would replace everything, however considering they broke into 3 flats and took 5 laptops I don't believe her.

Thanks for the links guys.

Also next time you may want to install Prey which can help track and recover your stolen laptop.

Thanks for that link, just signed up - really good idea.

Sorry to hear about your loss Scientific - if you have home insurance check it out you probably are covered. Failing that get in touch with citizens advice to see where you stand pursuing the land lady, better still hopefully an Overclocker might be a solicitor and be able to advise you where you stand...

Surely Prey is mostly useless because if you have a password on the computer it won't be able to log in and do anything anyway?

Most laptops would be wiped I would have thought too.
