Flat intercom system

I moved into a new flat over a month ago and have a problem with the intercom system used to buzz people into the building.
Basically I can't find a way to turn it down which is a problem when being woken up early on a saturday morning with people bringing the free local papers into the entrance hall downstairs :mad:

Just wondered if anyone knew if these phone systems can be turned down or off in our flat in any way.
Not sure of a make or model of the system as there is no info on it anywhere.
I'll provide a pic of the phone system if people think it will be useful.

When I lived in a block it was just a buzzer that sounded, no way to turn them down or off.

The ones I have seen have a caretaker button, that just pops the door open, rather than buzzing.

Ah thats bloody annoying then, I thought there would have been a way to at least turn them off.

The one in my flat has the option to turn my onto mute but my intercom is like 30 years old!

Never understood the ones that have the service button that just lets you in, surly they are there as secure entry, not anyone that can read?

Service buttons will only work between certain hours which will be known by the relevant services like the post office.

Is it one with a telephone you pick up to hear who is there, and then can you leave it off the hook and then it wont buzz?

Does that work though and isn't there the possiblity that the sound from inside the flat can then be heard downstairs at the intercom due to it being off the hook?

Yeah took it off the hook and disconnected to stop any sound from the flat coming out of the intercom.
It's funny how you overlook the simple things

What did you disconnect? If you disconnected the unit you could have bypassed the whole taking the phone of the hook thing in the first place!

Just disconnected the handset from the unit. don't think that will bypass anything.
