Flat or 99p Prices?

Coppers are redundant now, penny sweets just don't exist any more.

They just frustrate me, I always end up with a huge container full of 1+2's knowing that I'll probably get grief for trying to spend them.

Another thing.. with the VAT decrease, only the retailers profited as I didn't see prices being reduced from .99 to .96 or whatever it works out to be. Probabbly for the best, the required amount of coppers given in change for each transaction would double. Eeek.

Indeed! :)

Here in Finland we have prices ending in 99, but they took all the 1 cent coins out of circulation ages ago as they were a pain in the bum, so they just round up.

But cash is practically dead here anyway, we use a card for everything (even pubs and taxis). Apart from the honesty tin for the office coffee club, the last time I handled cash was on a visit to the UK.

all the prices where i work dropped when the vat changed, changing over 1000 tickets and a few more 1000 sticker labels is an annoying job
