Flat White

Nothing wrong with the odd flat white.

Nude are unusual as they use extremely tight ristretto's as a base for all their drinks. Last time I asked for a double espresso there I think I got about 20ml of liquid... That was on the strong side...

Most coffee people live in this thread now.

Macchiato is a lovely way to enjoy espresso too. I'm still a brewed coffee person at heart though.

There are so few places out there that do a good flat white (or a good coffee for that matter!)

A Portugese restaurant near me does the best flat white I've ever had. I keep meaning to ask what beans they use but the guy has been a barister for 30+ years so should know a thing or two!

Damn, I thought this place would have been about the infamous-among-soho-types for being full of hoxton heroes and.. er.. soho types That place is hilarious. So many skinny jeans, checked shirts, single-speeds and ipads

I have to say I don't quite 'get' the whole flat white thing. I had one from FW and wasn't impressed at all. I didn't realise it was just two shots in a latte? Or is it? I thought the milk was frothed/steamed to a smoother consistency than a latte?

Hey guys,

How many of you have tasted this brilliant beverage. It's my absolute favourite coffee atm!

Basically it's 2 shots of espresso and milk but served in a relatively small cup so it's very strong tasting.

Sounds like I'd get the same experience by asking for a strong latte in a cappachino mug.

A flat white also uses a different 'texture' of milk to say a latte and less milk.

Is a flat white the same as a macchiato?

Nope, a Machiatto is espresso with a touch of froth on top to take the edge off it.

Flat Whites remind me of Australia but that is generally a single shot of expresso so you basically get a slightly smaller wetter capuccino. Great for breakfast with a couple of poached eggs on toast over looking a stunning beach!
