Flaxseed oil - uses?

I've just been given two 750ml bottles of flaxseed oil for my birthday, but I've never used it before. Can I use it as a substitute for olive oil? or are there recipes which benefit from flaxseed oil? Apparently it's smoking point is really low, so I have no idea.

Google and Yahoo are blocked here, but using local search engines just show it seems to be used as a health supplement - so I have no idea what to do with it! And I don't know what benefits there are to health either. I have high-ish blood pressure and suffer from gout from time to time, so if it helps this, I need to find ways to use it!

Sauces and salads. Or rub it on your skin and hair :)
Don't cook with it.
Seen some people are using it to season cast pans although I haven't tried it.

You can just drink it like taking a shot.

I believe it's a good source of omega fatty acids.

Other than that I don't think it's good for much.
