Fleet command-type game?

I'm looking for a new game to play and fancy something on the scale of the total war series but where you control fleets of ships. Don't mind that era but would prefer modern. Not interested in controling the individual ships as a sim, more a battlefield overview.

Any ideas?

Nothing like what you are looking for, but it's pretty fun micro game in comparison with a vaguely similar style of gameplay...

Faster Than Light.

Awesome fun

Edit: ah... warships of this world. Not space ships, I watch too much sci fi for my brain to jump to space ships first...

Gratuitous Space Battles - my first thought but the others came to mind wise looking for this one

edit : i think their was a new turned based navel game : Leviathan: warships

Old school : Battlespace: The Battletech Game of Space Combat (own it but never played it..)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've play many of the sci-fi games mentioned which is why I thought about a naval games.

Have you tried nexus the Jupiter incident? Fantastic game very much about controlling a small fleet.

Naval War: Arctic Circle? Modern day military sim based heavily around naval conflict. £15ish on steam
